Clinical Behaviour Mentoring Opportunities
River McDonald MSc CCAB
I am pleased to offer mentoring opportunities to behaviour students, trainee behaviourists, established behaviour counsellors and those seeking to become a Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist.
I am a Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB), a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) and am listed as both a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) and Animal Training Instructor (ATI).
At the moment the bulk of my work is with separation anxiety cases, however I also see human/ animal directed aggression cases and there are opportunities to shadow our classes and training 1-2-1s for anyone wishing to gain ATI experiences as well as CCAB.
Mentoring sessions can take place via Zoom or at a location within 2 hours of my home address, with topics including:
- Running a behaviour business;
- Finding & onboarding clients;
- Conducting a successful consult;
- Case discussions;
- Finding your niche;
- Client reports, support & follow ups;
- Liaising with veterinary surgeons;
- CCAB pre-certification process;
- CCAB application & assessment.
I have limited opportunities for people to shadow or observe cases where the client is agreeable and the case is considered suitable. Separation anxiety cases are conducted via Zoom whilst other cases are currently a combination of Zoom and in person.
I am also happy to supervise your own cases, please contact me at [email protected] to discuss your requirements.
Mentoring fees
I charge my standard hourly rate for mentoring, which is £45 per hour. Travel to supervise cases is charged at 45p per mile and must be within a two-hour radius of EH53 0EG.
I am happy for more than one student/ mentee to attend sessions and for the cost to be split, up to a maximum of 3 people per session. In person and Zoom shadows are limited to one individual per case to minimise impact on the client.
